Mythica: A quest for heroes starts when Marek is a young slave girl who aspires to be a strong and powerful magician when she grows up. Slowly learning about her magical abilities, Marek gathers a crew consisting of Teela, Thane, a former soldier and an acquaintance of Teela, and Dagen, a Half-Elf with the skills of a thief and a womanizer.

Teela’s sister is killed by Kishkumen, a yellow-eyed magician, who steals the stone from her and wishes to give it to Szorlok, his master. On learning about this, Gojun Pye reveals the secrets about the stone to Marek. That stone is a fragment of Darkspore, a piece that can give its user the immense power of the Lich King.
Years Ago, Szorlok tried to gain power from the piece but was stopped by Gojun Pye and other sorcerers. The sorcerers decided to split the piece into fragments and distribute them worldwide. Gojun also reveals that, similar to Szorlok, Marek is also a necromancer.

During their journey, they find a dark elf with strange markings on his face, which allow him to be utterly harmless to any magic.
