Food Wars is a Japanese anime but also manga series directed by Shun Saeki and written by Yto Tsukuda. The show follows a restaurant chef who enrolls in an upper-tier cooking school with a low completion rate. The majority of the series takes place at Ttsuki Cooking School Academy, a prestigious cooking school in Tokyo, Japan, with only a few new graduates each year.

The majority of its students are from Totsuki Junior High School, but the advancement is possible if the entrance exam is passed. Soma and others will then begin their 2nd year. Several Fall Classic committee members have been promoted, substituting the recently graduated third-year class.

Their first mission is to look into the presence of “dark chefs,” who mostly work with criminal organizations and other VIPs. During such a time, Erina and Hisako question Joichiro about his relationship with Tamako, while Mana and Azami learn that Asahi is Azami’s biological offspring and Erina’s half-brother, prompting the former to invite him to join the Nakiri family many decades later, after all, Jewel Generation students have graduated from Totsuki.

Following the series finale, Food Wars fans are conflicted. Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma had one of the most controversial climaxes in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Boost in a lengthy moment, so fans were concerned heading into the fifth and final season. We saw how the anime team used manga elements to create a more cohesive narrative across its episodes. Food Wars Season 6: Cast & Characters

Even though there has been no official statement about the upcoming Food Wars Season, we can expect nearly every protagonist to return if the season 6 premiere date is kept.

1. Yuki Yoshino

   Yuki Yoshino is a student in the 92nd Ttsuki Generation and an occupant of Polar Star Dormitory. She is a spunky, cheerful, and playful girl with a “contagious” smile. She is childish because she enjoys taunting others. Although she appears to be quite innocent most of the time, she is just as competitive as everyone else and will gladly demonstrate her abilities if challenged. She is self-conscious about her body and is irritated by more developed female characters.

2. Soma Yukihira

   Shokugeki no Soma’s main character is Sma Yukihira. He is the son of Restaurant Yukihira’s proud owner, Jichir Yukihira, and Tamako Yukihira. He is a 92nd Ttsuki Generation alumnus and former Polar Star Dormitory resident. He has also previously held the first seat on the Elite Ten Committee. Sma was born to Jichir Yukihira and Tamako. Sma started working in his father’s home restaurant, Restaurant Yukihira, when he was three years old. Sma was interested in cooking as a child, inspiring him to become a fantastic cook like his father.

3. Shun Ibusaki

   Shun Ibusaki is a student in the 92nd Ttsuki Generation and a resident of Polar Star Dormitory. Shun has a lean, slender build, but he possesses impressive physical strength. His apparent ease demonstrates this in carrying large wood logs, whereas Daigo, who has a much larger body, struggles to carry one of equal size.

4. Megumi Tadokoro

   Megumi Tadokoro is a 92nd Ttsuki Generation former student, a Polar Star Dormitory member, and one of Shokugeki no Soma’s heroines. She is also the Elite Ten Council’s tenth member. Megumi is a clumsy, shy, thoughtful, kind, and honest young lady who always speaks politely. She is a nurturing individual who is always on the lookout for others and ready to help them in any way she can. According to Gin Djima, Megumi’s greatest thing is her warm hospitality as she cooks for the eater to feel satisfied.

5. Fumio Daimido

   The warden of the Polar Star Dormitory is Fumio Daimid. She was a regular character from the first season to the half of Season 3, and then a minor character from the next half of season 3. She genuinely cares about the students who live in her dorm. Though she is kind and patient, she is irritated by the craziness that the residents create, such as Yki Yoshino’s wild game running wild inside the dorm and Shun Ibusaki’s fumes cooking. She is very proud of the Polar Star’s Golden Era, which transformed the dorm into the self-sustaining dorm it is today. Her dormitory entrance exam demonstrates that Fumio values true zeal and hidden potential. Undoubtedly, anyone who lives in Polar Star possesses the exceptional talent and limitless potential.

6. Eriana Nakiri

   In Shokugeki no Soma, Erina Nakiri is one of the female protagonists and occasionally competes with Sma Yukihira. Erina originally stood above everyone in her class as the future star of the 92nd Ttsuki Generation and is a former 10th seat on the Elite Ten Council, grabbing the perfect palate in the world, “God’s Tongue,” and a part of the illustrious Nakiri family. Following the rebel group’s win during the Regimental Shokugeki, Sma and her grandfather, former Headmaster Senzaemon Nakiri, formally appointed her as Headmaster of Ttsuki Academy.

7. Satoshi Isshiki

   Satoshi Isshiki is a 91st generation Ttsuki graduate who used to be a member of the elite Ten Council. He is the eldest son of the Isshiki family, which has a well-known restaurant in Gion, Kyoto. His next generation was sent off to join their various allied forces to improve their cooking skills. He was sent to live with the Kinokuni family. He grew up with the Kinokuni heiress, who was the same age as him.

My interest was piqued by the possibility of a food-themed anime. The highlight is outlining one delectable dish after another, so it’s worth binge-watching. The animation perfectly embodies the essence of well-prepared food, from appearance to scent to room fullness. The premise is sensible; it follows a young boy’s aspirations to become a top chef as he grows and faces challenges in a culinary school vs other students with similar ambitions; while unoriginal, it works.

The characters vary in color and attitude, but in the end, they are all likable; there is no evil character. The anime has one flaw, and while it may be a plus for some or a minus for others, the extra dose of ecchi and fan service goes overboard in depicting characters’ reactions after they swallow the food. However, this is an anime, so expect the unexpected. Finally, it was a wonderful anime for me; I watched both dubbed seasons 1 and 2 and thoroughly enjoyed them. After a three-year break, I returned to season 3 and found it less enjoyable; the anime seemed to be dragging now.
